Unity Path Achieve Glory Of The Ulduar Raider! (Realm First)

And with Firefighter finally achieved, only Crazy Cat Lady remained to complete a number of meta achievements – which was added without fuss on the return trip as we’d deliberately left Auriaya alive en-route to Mimiron.

Congratulations to the entire team – the Glory of the Ulduar Raider has been a work in progress since Ulduar first opened, and achieving it as a Realm First is a fit and proper reward for all the effort people have put into the last four months.

The fight has a horrific reputation, but I think the team did very well – five wipe nights total and the boss hit the deck with quite a bit of margin to spare on the ten minute enrage – in relative terms of course! Big kudos to the healing team – we pulled the fight off with zero Priests on the night, which is very much against conventional wisdom but “faith manages”.

Congratulations to Codor who bagged [Delirium's Touch].

Unity Path Defeat Anub’arak! (Realm First)

Colosseum 25 Normal was brought to a close with the defeat of Anub’arak – an interesting encounter, and not quite a one-shot, but it was still short work for the team and another Realm First. We then went off to the Heroic and wiped all evening on the Northrend Beasts, which is certainly a very stiff gear check.

Congratulations to the loot winners: Minbrah with [Signet of the Traitor King], Toban with [Reign of the Unliving], Kwis with [Archon Glaive] and Dorloni with [Trophy of the Crusade].

Unity Path Defeat Freya+3 (Faction First)

We probably should have done this last week, but we decided to just mop everything up in a couple of days and have a couple of days breather after the exertions of the weeks before. And within 5 pulls on the night, we cleaned up. In real terms, adding the last Watcher – the ground tremor – wasn’t a very large step after we’d already polished the technique until it squeaked on Freya+2.

It didn’t feel an epic kill, +2 felt better. However, congratulations to Nasreen who pocketed [Dreambinder].

Yet another simple Colosseum 25 boss, and swiftly despatched with a messy, if successful, one-shot. However, you can certainly see the potential of the fight in Heroic mode when the various elements – and the raid damage – are amped up to 11!

Congratulations to the loot winners: Windspeace with [Boots of the Mourning Widow], Tagan with [Twin Spike], Lotar with [Legguards of Ascension], Shamitza with [Cord of Pale Thorns] and Fornica with the last [Trophy of the Crusade].

Another week, another swiftly despatched boss in the somewhat tepid Colosseum 25 Normal. Sounded interesting on paper with much potential for confusion, but it’s simply a “don’t get caught, and slap down as much CC as possible” fight in normal mode at least- which was duly one-shotted. However, the Heroic version should be a very different story.

Congratulations to the winners: Minbrah with Girdle of the Bloodied Scars, Irisiri with [Trophy of the Crusade] and Zattanna with [Bastion of Purity].

Unity Path Defeat Yogg+1 Keeper (Realm First)

This was a hard fight. Very hard, with much stress which pushed us to our gear limits. The recent patch brought a slight nerf to Yogg’s P3 health, luring us to Yogg+1 before killing Yogg+2, but with out the damage multipliers of the other Keepers it felt like we’d stepped back three months before the first kill back in May. We literally had no margin at all. But the final kill was satisfying in a way which we certainly hadn’t seen since Vezax and probably not since Yogg+4 all those months ago.

Congratulations to Rhoanna who bagged the first iLevel 239 loot from this particular monster with [Treads of the False Oracle], but congratulations to all. We’ll be looping back towards the remaining Keeper hard modes in the coming weeks, but I think we might have just earned a very small breather in the coming raiding week!

Unity Path Defeat Lord Jaraxxus! (Realm First)

Less challenging version of Kel’Thuzad, with somewhat better loot is how to sum this chap up. Once the Mages got their head around being spell steal stooges again, the boss simply can’t do the damage to threaten the tank. Again, entertaining whilst in progress, just not difficult. However, Blizzard are obviously marking time until the Heroic version of the instance opens, and then on to when Icecrown is released.

Congratulations to our loot winners: Lyavanna with Talonstrike, Nasreen with Pride of the Eredar, Mink with Ring of the Darkmender and Ivresse with [Trophy of the Crusade].

Unity Path Defeat Freya+2! (Realm First)

It’s taken a couple of weeks and a complete reworking of everything we’ve been doing – with success – up to Freya+1, but we finally landed her with two Guardians up. That’s the beauty with these “hard mode” fights – what went before may not get the job done when you put another element on to the fight. However, we’re hopeful that +3 won’t require the same level of transition!

Our focus will now be Yogg+1. We all but finished off Yogg+2 the week before, and with the nerfs to the fight in P3, we’re going to straight line directly to the official hard mode proper.

It’s a bit of a stretch to put this down as a meaningful Server First, as the content was hardly challenging – but we did smash into the instance at the first available opportunity when the patch lag cleared up to take the spoils. Entertaining fight whilst it’s in progress, it’s just not very difficult when geared to Ulduar hard mode level. Which is suspect given the iLevel of the gear it drops it’s stupidly good compared to the challenge.

Congratulations to the loot winners, Losetech with [Trophy of the Crusade] and Kwis with [Breastplate of Cruel Intent]. Other bits were unfortunately sharded due to poor itemisation.
